Last but not least is my personal favorite INTERVENE, Skin Tone Perfecting Capsules. Have you ever felt silk on your skin? Ok well this is far softer than that...a babies butt? Hard to believe, but softer...this product actually feels like nothing going on...like air with a velvet touch for the lack of a better description. It is so smooth that when you put the tiny capsule on your face, you will be rubbing and rubbing and rubbing unsure if you actually have it on your face! When you stop rubbing, you will be amazed at how soft your face and hands feel, perhaps Intervene will be the new standard upon which softness is measured. These Skin Tone perfecting Capsules are sure to leave your skin looking great after a fairly short time. I have been using them for 2 weeks religiously and my skin feels amazing. The cost is $42, the results are priceless. Cliche I know!

Another Elizabeth Arden product

Another Elizabeth Arden product we are crazy about is the 100th Anniversary Celebration
Eight Hour Cream set specifically, the lip protectant. When you first put this on, be ready to get a little lip buzz which feels tingly and lasts for as long as it promises with minimal lip licking. This is the only lip balm I carry in my purse as I write this and it is the only one needed. When my face is all golden brown with the bronzer and cream, the lip protectant seems the obvious next best thing. It is clear so you will never look over made up, it protects your lips for hours on end and it actually feels wonderful on the mouth unlike some goopy sticky glosses that have recently been introduced to my trash can. You get a great little kit for only $29.50, your skin and lips will thank you for it and so will your budget.

Ever since I turned 30, my skin decided to rebel and no longer browns evenly when I sit out in the sun...so I stopped sitting out in the sun! As much as I’d love my body to be forever tanned, I really can’t take the abundant sunspots we prefer to call ‘cute freckles’ and apparent lines on my very thin under eye skin. I guess I can’t win however because my only choices are to be a pinky blotchy brown when I lay out in the sun after months of being unexposed or an all over even shade of pasty white. No thanks! Tanning beds are not an option and I say nay on ingesting a spray tan by mistake so what am I left with? Elizabeth Arden. Let me say the following before I get into the products, we LOVE these so much that we have actually dedicated an entire post to Elizabeth Arden and put a few other goody reviews on hold .

I normally mix a bit of foundation with a touch of facial cream for a smooth finish but the Elizabeth Arden PURE FINISH Mineral Tinted Moisturizer with an SPF 15 is a one step do-it-aller. I was doubtful it could replace my Armani foundation but ladies...let me tell you, Armani who? This tinted sun screen product does everything I could possibly want a cream to do: covers without leaving ANY visible sign of coverage, protects without leaving a greasy feel and moisturizes removing any traces of dry skin. Since wearing this on a daily basis, people have actually begun commenting on the quality of my skin but best of all, when combined with the PURE MINERAL FINISH Bronzing Powder, I actually look like I have a ‘natural’ glow about me- no sun necessary. There aren’t many products I’d pay $37.50 for but the Tinted Moisturizer is worth it and at $38, so is the powder!

GET MORE HAIR VOLUME IN JUST 2 MINUTES

Fine limp hair sucks- point finale! When it comes to volume, almost every woman wants it but the older we get, the less we have it. Ojon’s Volumizing 2-min Hair Mask is amazing for so many reasons.

1. It’s by Ojon -that speaks for itself; every Ojon product I’ve tried I absolutely loved
2. Its claims are 100% true! I used it last night and let my hair air dry...oooh la la...POOF! But not in a bad way, in a full sexy -I actually have more than 30 strands of hair- kinda way.
3. The scent is sweet and gentle on the nose
4. 2 minutes! Hello! Not many companies can make a product that actually does what it says in 2 short minutes. Before you know it, your hair will be dry and much more voluminous. For EXTRA volume, scrunch your hair upside down into a diffuser and give a few attention worthy head whips to get your mane into top shape.

What ingredients make this product so beneficial? Besides Ojon oil, Shea and Mango butter, there is also Jojoba, Sesame, Macadamia, Avocado and several other oils that work through the hair creating the desired result. At $38 CDN, you could either get a hairstyle that creates the illusion of having voluminous tresses or get a product that will seriously make you believe you do!

HSD Chicks July Product Picks

HSD Chicks July Product Picks

Ahhh Sephora Sephora Sephora, how you spoil us. When it comes to our favourite picks for July, Tarina Tarentino’s Victorian Punk collection is at the top of the list. I already love her, but now she has made something that literally brings out the child in me. When I saw the packaging of the lipgloss in a ring box, I put it on my finger and pranced around with it all day. The concept is really cute and the product itself is great quality. There is nothing quiet or shy about Tarina Tarentino’s former lines; filled with color and sparkle, the Victorian Punk collection is no exception. Her shades of green, purple, orange and bright pink may not be the first colors one would put in a makeup pallet but these are nice enough to throw traditional shades out the window! From $19 to $35, you can get yourself some fun additions to your cosmetic collection.

EDUN for Sephora Palette in Harmony, is another great goody we had the chance to try with fun packaging and neutral yet bold color. Made in Uganda, this simple to carry and open with no mess palet holds 6 eyeshadows and one blush. $36 will get you these shades or its sister palet, Contrast, with much brighter shades of notice me color. Why do we love it? Because not only are the colors great for every day wear, but $3 from every sale goes to the Wildlife Conservation Society, to fund activities of the Conservation Cotton Initiative in Uganda, which supports the organic cotton trade while helping local communities and protecting biodiversity.

If you want to tone down the color a tad then why not start with your outer extremities – toes and fingers. Going nude eh? Is a recent addition to the nail polish family from OPI Canada and it is a great combination of subtle yet sexy for hands and feet. $9 will get you this puppy. Not bad, eh?
Find these at our favorite store, 1-877-SEPHORA.

Stepping away from Sephora and hopping into MAC, can somebody say PARTYLICIOUS? I am crazy about MACs website; the visual makeup tutorial is fantastic and perfect for a person like me who often tries out various colors and fails miserably at achieving what I thought would look great in my head. When I recently received the Partylicious eye pigment (shown in center, my first thought was, hmm...bright blue huh? I went to the site to try out some looks and threw in additional colors of my own. A bit of mascara and blue pigment later and my eye color was POPPING and I loved the spice it added to my otherwise routine look and the attention I got did not hurt either. Partylicious comes from a delicious range of products from the M•A•C Alice + Olivia collection. Playful, fun, and definitely not shy, these colors bring out the fashion dare devil in you, not waiting on anyone to set a trend to follow but definitely setting your own tone. At $19.50 U.S you really get more bang for your buck with such a big container. The other colors are Black with transforming purple pearl called Later and If It Sparkles...which is White with transforming pink pearl-all are limited edition. Oooh love the luminescence.

2 Must Mention Hair And Skin Products

As we get older, we lose more hair and what we do have loses its lustre. In the couple of months I’ve discovered two products that bring back some rejuvenation to the hair and my skin. Starting with the hair, is a product I might have mentioned in the past called HERCUT sold at Sephora. I don’t try to use too much shampoo due to my dry curly hairstyle and was afraid that more shampoo meant more dehydration. When I tried Hercut for Curly Long Layers, it could not have been on a more humid day and I was sooooo surprised at the results, after shampooing, I left some of the conditioner in my hair and finger combed it out so my curly hairstyle could at least have half a chance at drying decent. Then I applied the Long Layers Catalyst which meshed so well with my already conditioned hair I swore I would buy these products again. Prices range from about $22 to $28. I can’t help getting older perhaps, but I can help how my hair looks in the process...the skin on the other hand is a different

Funky Retro 80's Hairstyles

Funky Retro 80's Hairstyles

Every era has a time in fashion where it really stands out like no other. The 80s is the perfect example of how fashion and hair were bigger than big. It was a very fashion rebellious period where both women and men showed off brighter hair color and more unique hairstyles. With Madonna, Boy George and Cindy Lauper as pop icons it’s no surprise fans worldwide set trends inspired by the superstars. Whether teased into a high pouf, shaved on one side and long on the other or thrown up into a side ponytail, the 1980s were a time of playful experimentation.
