Applying Concealer - Tips for Applying Concealer

Applying Concealer - Tips for Applying Concealer

There are times when you have important meetings or a date and you are not quite happy with the person you see in the mirror. Those little zits, acne or even moles can spoil your preparation for that important event. On such occasions, concealer comes like a God send. Easy to use with no fuss involved, a concealer is an essential item in most of the make-up bag of nearly all women. It is your best friend when you have a date and you have your imperfections to hide or simply if you want to achieve that perfect face. Available as a cream, pencil or a stick, it does not involve any expertise in application. All it needs is a few simple tips and you will find what a good friend concealer can be.

Tips For Applying Concealer

It is advisable to use a hydrating cream before applying concealer. It is essential to choose a cream that lasts at least 12 hours. This gives a life to skin and helps the application to last longer.

Finding a concealer is never a problem. There is one available for all skin types. For example, concealer available in cream form is for dry skin, stick is for fat skin and pencil is only for little problems like acne.

After determining the type of concealer, next step involves choosing an appropriate color. You can choose a color by looking at the color wheel and choosing a color that complements color of problem you are trying to hide. For example, red marks are best hidden by using green color and moles by yellow.

You do not have to be a professional make-up artist to apply concealer. Use of fourth finger is the best-recommended method for applying concealer as it exerts minimum pressure and is a best substitute for a concealer brush. Additionally, warmth of finger makes concealer blend easily. Just be sure to pat gently.

Mistakes While Applying Concealer

Learning concealer application does not involve rocket science. It can be done easily. However, most women make same mistakes while applying concealer. These common mistakes are listed below:

There is wisdom in that saying: Do not drink straight from the bottle. This applies to concealer application also. Do not apply it straight from the tube.

If you believe that more is less, it is a big mistake. Quantity of concealer to be used should be just enough so that it is not visible after application. If you have smudges on your face, believe it, you have applied more than required.

Choice of wrong shade is a next big mistake. Chosen shade of concealer should be only a shade or two below your skin shade.

Concealer is not to be applied like a cream by rubbing it on. It must be tapped on and slowly blended with fingertips or concealer brush.

Solving a problem involves using right tools. So choose a concealer formulation that best suits the problem you are trying to hide. Choices available include liquid, stick or pencil. Liquid is the easiest to use, the stick should be used for very dark circles and a pencil should be used for blemishes.

How To Apply Concealer

Although easy to apply, it is better to be careful while applying concealer. This article will provide insights on how to apply concealer.

For dark circles, take a dab of concealer on your fingertip. Apply it under the eye, moving from outside corner of the eye to the inner corner. This will cover the dark circles.

Use a little concealer below dark circles to perfectly blend the skin texture and hide any other blemishes.

Do not rub or pull application under eyes. Use patting motion to blend it nicely.

To ensure that application is correct, smile at yourself in the mirror and watch for any cracks around eyes. If you find cracks, tap them gently and remove cracks.

Choice of shade must be one below your foundation.

Many professionals recommend use of concealer brushes, but it is best applied by using fingertips as it helps blending homogeneously.

Any thoughts of removing concealer by rubbing must be banished from mind. Use a gentle face cleanser instead.

Application of more than two coats is not recommended.

Eye Mascara – Information on Eye Mascara

Eye Mascara – Information on Eye Mascara

You love to flutter your eyelashes at your man and seduce him. Beautiful eyelashes are obtained by application of Mascara. Mascara helps you to define your lashes and even add prominence to them. In the process of eye make-up, eye mascara is the last step. Applying Mascara is the final step in eye makeup. Applied on the eyelashes, it helps beautify them. A little tricky to apply, if done successfully, it brings out funky and gorgeous in you at the same time. There are different shades and formulations available to suit your taste. Different colors of mascara available bring out colourful ‘you’. When worn with complete eye make-up of eye shadow and eyeliner, it can work wonders to bring out hidden beauty of eyes.

Mascara is broadly available in three forms – water based, water proof and mixed one. You can choose anyone based upon type of eye make-up you are going to be wearing. Eyes can convey a thousand words without being said and mascara adds to the seductiveness of those words. If applied correctly, it brings that long and lustrous look to eyelashes. For this reason alone, it is an essential tem in most of the make-up bag of nearly all women. This would help you achieve that gorgeous look any time of the day. Enough emphasis cannot be laid out on the care that must be exercised in mascara application and removal. There are three different forms of mascara - water-based, waterproof and the mixed variety. During application, if you feel even a slightest amount of irritation, discard it at once. Similarly, when removing mascara, ensure that color doesn’t enter delicate area below bottom lashes.

How to Apply Mascara

No eye make-up is complete without applying mascara. A little tricky to achieve, this article will provide insight on how to apply mascara.

There is a well-known fact that before application of any agent, surface must be prepared. Mascara application must be applied only after you have prepared your eyelashes sufficiently. Prepare your lashes by using an eyelash comb or damp toothbrush to comb them. If required, curl your lashes with an eyelash curler and apply all other eye makeup. Having the eyelashes separated and curled makes it easy to apply mascara as well as steady the hand.

Mascara application should be started from upper eyelash. Keeping your eyes open, start from the underside of upper eyelash with mascara brush and in an upward motion, finish at the tip of lashes. Keep your hand steady and firm. Do not blink at this time, as application is wet. A little zigzag movement of brush must follow this first coat to avoid clogging of lashes.

A thin second coat must follow a thin first coat. You might want to go ahead with single coat, but two thin coats will provide better definition than one thick coat. So it is better to go ahead with second coat. Before you apply second coat, be sure that first one has dried to avoid smudging and clogging of lashes.

After finishing with upper lashes, apply similar procedure on lower lashes. In upper lashes, motion of brush was vertical. However, for lower lashes, vertical movement, i.e. bottom to top is not recommended. Here you must use a sideways movement of wand. Keep your hand steady and move mascara wand in sideways movement to apply coat. Take care to not blink while mascara is still wet.

If there is any excess mascara, it can be removed by using an eyelash comb. If not removed, it clogs eyelashes and can blur vision. Later on, you might have difficulty in removing the clogs. So they must be removed while still wet.

How to remove eye mascara

As important as application, removal of mascara plays an important part in keeping eyes safe and trouble free. Skin around eyes is very delicate and is easily prone to damage. Any harsh procedure will easily damage this delicate portion. You must, at all costs, avoid the color from entering your eyes. If allowed it causes irritation and may prove to be harmful. For removing, you have to be as careful as you were while applying mascara. To remove successfully, use a cotton bud dipped in a cosmetic cleanser and roll it over eyelashes keeping your eyes closed. Continue with this procedure till eyelashes is clean and mascara has been removed.

Eyeliner Application Tips

Eyeliner Application Tips

Beautiful eyes need beautiful definition. Best way to provide that definition is by highlighting them. Amongst many methods of highlighting, eyeliner is the most potent and ‘easily done’ method with low recurring costs. It gives shapes to the eyes and adds importance as well. Problem lies in the art of application of eyeliner. It is considered as an easy thing to do, so many women make mistakes while applying it. There are a few who do it well, but there is a difference in professional application and an amateur job. This article will provide an insight into how to apply eyeliner. This is covered in following steps.

Selecting An Eyeliner

It is important to understand and choose the type of eyeliner that will enhance your beautiful eyes. Right type of eyeliner should be an essential item in the make-up bag. Amongst many varieties available like Cake eyeliner, Liquid eyeliner and pencil type, choose wisely to enhance the beauty of your eyes. Besides choosing the correct type, correct application is a must. Liquid eyeliner should be applied above eyelashes. Liquid type eyeliner requires great precision while applying, as it is quite similar to ink. You must take care to keep your eyes closed while the liquid is drying. Other type of eyeliner is pencil type, also known as Eyeliner pencil. This is applied below eyelashes on lower eyelids. Care must be taken to apply it in a thin line to accentuate the boundary of eyes subtly. On the other hand, a thick line will make your eyes look unnatural and harsh. Should there be a problem in applying a thin line, use a brush to smoothen and blend it.

Eyeliner Application Tips

Application should be started at inner corner of the eye. Since eyes are delicate and very sensitive, use a light hand during application. Results can be unpredictable if eyeliner is applied in a hurry and without any care. Patience and a deft touch will give you great looking eyes.

Eyeliner application should follow application of eye shadow. Reversing the procedure will hide the eyeliner and create smudges in eye shadow as well.

Best impressions are achieved by combination of various enhancements. Try this one! Use a color kohl pencil application above and below the eyelashes. This can be followed by dark grey or black liquid eyeliner application on top eyelashes. This simple method will make your eyes look quite intense and meaningful. Best part about this method is that it will stay the whole day. Dark liquid used on the color kohl will make your eyes stand out with a deep meaningful look.

Eyeliner is applied easily if eyelids are taut. You can achieve this by tilting your head back while looking at yourself in the mirror, keeping eyes focussed on your face. Taut eyelids will provide for a deft touch.

Secret to making your eyes look great is to enhance your eyelashes. This is achieved by lightly applying a dark eye shadow under eyelashes with a small make-up brush. Follow this up with the eyeliner of your choice to achieve the look of full and fluttery eyelashes. Applying a thin line of lighter shade below the dark eyeliner further enhances this and makes your eyes look bigger and brighter.

There is no restriction on using pencil type eyeliner on upper or lower eyelashes. But, if liquid eyeliner has to be applied, it must be applied on the top lid. Cake eyeliners, used with water, can be applied on either of lids.

Green eyes can be easily accentuated with violet eyeliner. If you have noticed the color wheel, you will find that violet and green are opposite to each other and thus complement each other well. So use violet eyeliner if you have green eyes.

Colors should be chosen depending upon the current season. For example, during autumn, green, beige and burnt orange colors will look very natural.

Eyeliner pencil has one other use. If you ever think about giving shape and attitude to your lips, eyeliner is your weapon of choice. Use eyeliner for giving a shape to your lips and then use lipstick to further enhance them. Care must be taken to use eyeliner color that complements the color of your lipstick.
