Natural Treatment for Facial Hair Removal

Natural Treatment for Facial Hair Removal

Before you try anything to remove facial hair, it is necessary for you to know that it is normal to have fine hair on the upper lip, sideburns and around the chin. However, if it is too thick and coarse in texture, then you would need to get rid of it. A simple way of doing this is to bleach any unwanted hair away from your face. You can buy a packet of body bleach from any pharmacy. This will work well enough and the procedure will have to be repeated when you notice darker hairs beginning to show up again. Alternately, you can also apply hydrogen peroxide on the entire area evenly and wash it off after about 10 minutes. Do this for at least a week to see positive results. Lime juice, a natural bleaching agent, can also be applied to the area frequently to lighten the color of the skin. Do remember to always apply sunscreen before going out when you do this, otherwise that area will tan darkly.

Alternatively, you can use a ball of freshly kneaded dough, dip it in olive oil and rub the entire "hairy" area mildly with it for about 10 minutes. This will remove hair from the roots. You must do this at least thrice a week for at least six months, or till the hair stops growing back. This is the only method that will ensure that you are permanently rid of the unwanted hair.

Hair Removal on a Child

  1. Apply a besan (gram flour, chana flour) haldi - turmeric powder paste. Take 75% besan and 25% haldi. i.e. for 3 tsp of besan mix 1 tsp of haldi. Both the ingredients are available from Indian grocery stores.
After sometime when it starts to dry, scrub it off gently. This would gradually reduce body hair over a period of time.
It is not possible to give an exact time for hair to vanish. In some parts of India, this is done for about 1.5 months to new born babies on whole body and they are almost hairless.
  2. Massage the baby with almond oil or any other oil.
(Note: You can use besan haldi paste and oil or wheat flour and ghee paste massage for even a new born child for 2-3 months, every alternate day. If the baby has too much hair, they will vanish over a period of time.)

Other Solutions for Facial and Body Hair Treatment

  1. Waxing
Waxing is the easiest and most convenient way for removing hair and can be done at home with ease. Waxing pulls the hair out from below the top layer of skin and leaves your skin smooth. In waxing, a thin layer of melted wax is applied to the skin in the direction of the hair growth. The wax is then pulled off quickly in the opposite direction of the hair growth, taking the hair with it.
In the sugar form of waxing, sugar is used instead of wax to get rid of the hair from face and body. Sugaring is easier to apply and easier to cleanup the mess.
  2. Tweezing and threading are considered to be the safest method of removal of unwanted hair but these are extremely time-consuming. Tweeze eyebrows using a sharp, clean pair of tweezers. Place a warm damp cloth over the brows for 5-10 minutes before plucking to soften the area or tweeze immediately after shower.
  3. Bleaching:
Bleaching is a good option if the hair is dark but not dense like those on the upper lip or other parts of the face, neck and arms. There are many options for facial bleach products at the drugstore or on the Internet.
Mix six per cent hydrogen peroxide with household ammonia or ammonia water. For each 10 drops of ammonia mix 15 gram of peroxide apply immediately after mixing. Leave it for 20-30 minutes. If the result of first application is not satisfactory, repeat it the next day.
  4. Shaving
Shaving is mostly used for legs and bikini line, but the hair grows back too fast after shaving. Also the skin becomes red after shaving or even red bumps can develop. You can use a shaving gel for sensitive skin and apply a solution containing 1 or 2 aspirins in 1/4 cup water with cotton. The anti-inflammatory properties of aspirin cures the redness or red bumps even when applied to the surface of skin.
You should never shave on dry hair. Wet hair is soft and easier to cut. It is myth that shaving increases the rate of growth of hair. Note that shaving does not change the texture, color, rate of hair growth and hair density which depend on hormones.
  5. Depilatories
Depilatories use calcium hydroxide and sodium or calcium thioglycolate which dissolve hair. But it involves severe irritation and/or burns to the skin and eyes for some people. Therefore, depilatories should never be used for eyebrows and on broken skin. First test the depilatory on your arm to check for allergic reactions. Hair comes back in a few days after application because depilatories remove the hair on the surface.
  6. Electrolysis
Electrolysis use electric current to remove hair. Electrolysis is considered a permanent hair removal method because this technique destroys the hair follicle. The technique, however, needs repeats and thus costly.
There are two types of electrolysis devices are in use: the needle epilator and the tweezers epilator. The major risks of using electrolysis include electrical shock, infection from a non-sterile needle and scarring caused by improper technique.
Home electrolysis kits are also available. But because these use very low voltage, they are not very effective.
  7. Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is superior to other forms of hair removal but is not permanent and it can include skin discoloration (either darkening or lightening of skin), swelling, inflammation and infected hair follicles (Source: Journal of Dermatological Treatment, p72-83, April 2004).

It's Unbelievable, But Facial Laser Hair Removal Really Works

It's Unbelievable, But Facial Laser Hair Removal Really Works

Excess body hair can really be annoying although it is a usual problem. It is actually one of the greatest sources of fuss among women when it comes to beauty. The most common area of concern is the face, especially the eyebrow and upper lip area. Hair growth is largely influenced by genes and race. White people apparently tend to have excess facial hair than Asians and Blacks. Also, hair growth may come in different stages. Some may develop them as early as puberty and observe that it is actually getting worse as they age. During pregnancy and menopause, it may also become more obvious. However, take note that sudden hair growth in special instances may be a sign of some serious medical conditions so make sure you consult your doctor when you do observe it occurring. Hair comes in different types, depths, and densities. There is literally no standard or usual size. This adds up to the problem of eliminating it permanently. There are a lot of treatments and solutions available in the market today but do not seem to continuously satisfy people. Shaving is the easiest way but hair goes back as early as a day after. It also leaves unsightly bumps and may really be abrasive to the skin. Plucking, which guarantees longer effects, is time-consuming and painful. A lot of creams have been already been introduced but seem to produce equally frustrating results. Most of them even cause irritation and redness. Waxing, on the other hand, has gained popularity among women because it makes one hair-free for two to three weeks. However, the process is quite painful and it often leaves ingrown hair. A recent treatment called electrolysis tries to kill the root of the each hair. However, it can be quite expensive and time consuming as it requires several visits to clear a very small area. Indeed, people have been seeking for the best solution. The most recent treatment, which has gained a lot of peoples satisfaction, is the laser technique. The system basically employs targeted flashes of light that aim to block the potential of the hair follicle to grow back. As the flashes are targeted, it is not harmful to surrounding tissues. It can also cover several hair follicles at once thereby not requiring several visits to permanently eliminate unwanted hair. Treatment may depend on the type of hair and skin as well as the size of the area. It may last for only several minutes or as long as an hour. Since it is most effective during the hairs active growth phase which does not happen simultaneously, the doctor makes a treatment schedule at the start to identify the number of visits. Side effects are said to be very rare and minimal if any although this may vary from patient to patient. Some redness or swelling may be observed right after but easily fade soon after. The patient can immediately go back to his normal activities. To date, this has been one of the best techniques when it comes to hair removal as it has been a product of years and years of research and study. However, make sure that when you do come in for this treatment, you go to a licensed and experienced practitioner as well as an institution that is known to follow certain standards and work under an excellent system.

Getting a Laser Facial Hair Treatment

Getting a Laser Facial Hair Treatment

Facial hair has quite often been deemed as unhygienic and awkward. Facial hair on women especially, is often considered socially unacceptable. But these days, both men and women are becoming more conscious of facial hair. Plucking, waxing and shaving are usually the methods used for removal of facial hair. Unfortunately, most facial hair removal methods such as shaving, waxing, require outgrowth (of the hair) before removing unwanted hair. The factors behind excessive facial hair are most commonly genes and/or hormones. Age is another factor for excessive facial hair, as both women and men tend to grow hair on their ears as they grow older. Laser therapy is the newest method to get rid of all these embarrassing strands, forever. Laser Therapy For Facial Hair Laser treatment is considered a gentle, effective, and convenient solution (especially for facial hair) for both men and women. Both the Diode Laser System and Intense Pulsed Light System (IPL) use targeted flashes of light in order to block the re-growth potential of the hair follicle. This therapy usually does not damage surrounding tissues and each device targets a number of hair follicles simultaneously - thus making this a good treatment for catering to large areas of hair removal. Laser removes the hair at the follicle and reaches the root directly, thus ingrown hair is also removed in the process. The length of an individual treatment may last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or more, and has some depending factors: * Size of the area to be treated. * Kind of hair. * Skin type. Laser hair removal for the upper lip takes about 5 minutes. Laser hair removal therapy for the full face can take about 15 minutes. The therapy demands repeated on a monthly basis and typically, people require 4-6 sessions. In some cases, the treatment may cause some minor discomfort - from a slight tingling to a slight pinch. For those patients who cannot tolerate the pain on the sensitive facial areas, topical anesthesia is provided. The ultimate appearance of the treated area immediately after the laser hair removal session will vary from patient to patient. Side effects are considered rare, provided they are done with the right laser specifications and from a reputed clinic. Any kind of swelling or redness at the treatment site usually vanishes within a couple hours. Benefits * Permanency * Ingrown hair on the face can also be removed permanently * Pain free Precautions for Laser Facial Hair Removal One needs to take certain precautions before going for the treatment. * Although laser hair removal specialists proclaim the therapy as permanent, a 50% reduction after three treatments, performed six weeks apart, is more realistic. Especially on facial areas, maintenance treatments are extremely important to ensure complete removal of facial hair. * It is recommended that patients avoid laser treatment around the eyes - on the brow area and in between the eyes. Because laser rays can penetrate deeply, it can have harmful if not performed correctly and may have long-term implications. Tweezing and waxing is considered a better solution in these areas. The face is the index of the mind - let it be clean and spotless. Lose hair through laser treatment and let your face glow!

Facial Laser Hair Removal: A Good Option?

Facial Laser Hair Removal: A Good Option?

What is facial laser hair removal? Unwanted facial hair can be quite irritating, especially for the ladies. Some of the more unfortunate women can have very unfeminine facial hair growth that requires them to tend the areas on a regular basis, like every two or three days. However, removing unwanted facial hair can be annoying, and in the end, time-wasting. There are several solutions to this problem, and we will examine each in turn. The first option for removing facial hair is to shave it. This is what most people do, because it is the easiest to do. Unfortunately, the effects of shaving are very temporary. Men and women who shave one day can expect some sort of hair growth the very next day. Thus, shaving can become a waste of time. The second option is to tweeze unwanted facial hair. Technically speaking, tweezing off hairs is better than shaving it - it removes a larger portion of the hair strand, which will delay future hair growth. However, tweezing is also more painful, and due to the sensitivity of facial skin, may not a good idea foe those with low pain tolerance levels. The third option is to use some sort of chemical to make hair removal easier. There are several creams and lotions in the market today that claim to fulfill this function. Using these products can make shaving or tweezing or shaving more effective, not to mention less painful. Of course, you must choose the products you will be using carefully. The fourth method is waxing. In this method, you apply hot or cold wax to the area that you want to treat. The hairs will stick to the wax, and when the wax is removed, so will the hair. The downside is that this can be very, very painful. So like tweezing, it might not a good idea for some people. The fifth and final option is facial laser hair removal. In this method, a laser is used to treat the hair follicles. The laser effectively burns and damages the hair follicles, which severely constrains their ability to grow more hair. It's like pulling out grass by the roots. By killing off the hair follicles, facial laser hair removal makes sure that you won't be having facial hair ever again. Despite the description, facial laser hair removal is not painful at all. Even when the laser is burning the hair follicles, all patients will feel is a slight irritation at most. Painkillers and anesthetics are not even required. In short, facial laser hair removal is an excellent long-term solution to the problem of unwanted facial hair.
