80s Makeup

80s Makeup

The 80s were a time of rock and roll, long (and big) hair, leather jackets, bright colored clothes, and brightly colored, dramatic makeup. And although we may be in the year 2011, the 80s makeup is coming back.
Everywhere you look, either in Hollywood or on the fashion runway, people are showing of the 80s style makeup and trends. 80s makeup is very trendy, very chic. It is almost like you are letting out your inner wild child and letting her shine. So let’s bring it back!

80s makeup

One thing to remember is the brighter and more colorful the better. 80s makeup is one of the most distinct trends that never fail to amaze us, and it is one trend that keeps recycling itself. In what other time frame can the eye shadow colors of bright green, orange, purple and blue come together cohesively? What about that heavy blush and bright lips (which are absolutely classic for 80s makeup).

How do you achieve the 80s makeup look?

- Start off your 80s makeup look by applying liquid foundation to smooth out your complexion. Completely cover your face. (you can use a concealer to hide blemishes or other dark spots if needed beforehand)

- For your eyes, you want to put very thick black eyeliner (or really ANY color). You want dramatic you want it THICK. Cover the top and the bottom! This is 80s makeup, more is better!

- Put lots of mascara on your eyelashes, make them long, make them thick, curl them if you have an eyelash curler or use the eyelash curling mascara.

- When you have taken care of that gather up several different colors of eye shadows. When we say get green and purple, we are not talking about the subtle earth tone colors. You want BRIGHT and VIBRANT for the 80’s makeup look! You want the neon green, the bright purple, nuclear orange, any of those colors. And you want to alternate putting these colors on your eyes. Applying to the lid, the crevice and the brow bone…don’t forget to extend out

- (for 80s makeup they would sometimes used the edge of a piece of paper or ruler to get a straight line from the corner of their eye to the hair line and sometimes using a blush brush to give a jagged, fiery look)

- Put some BRIGHT and heavy blush on your cheekbones

- And finish your 80s makeup off with a bright red or pink colored lipstick.

Need someone to model after? Look at Cyndi Lauper or Madonna they are excellent examples of the 80s makeup look of this era.

Regardless of the trends 80s makeup has always been the most recognizable and the most constant to re-surface again and again.

Shampoo: How to choose and apply shampoo

Shampoo: How to choose and apply shampoo

The care and appearance of ones hair is very important. Everyone wants beautiful and healthy looking hair, and the first step to getting it is picking out the shampoo you use. There are many types of hair and there is a shampoo that fits each hair type. There are many brands of shampoo and sometimes it is over whelming to figure out which one to choose.

If you have thin hair make sure you choose a shampoo that has a label that reads “for thin hair” or something of that sort. They have many brands of shampoo for thin hair and some are more expensive than others. You can most definitely ask your hair salon provider about a good shampoo that will work good on your hair. Most shampoos tell you to apply the shampoo, rinse it off, then apply again. It is important to read the instructions to make sure so you get the best result of the shampoo on your hair.

For the most part cheaper shampoos are less quality and are actually worse for your hair. You may think you are getting a good deal by not spending a lot or it being on sale, but really it is making your hair unhealthy. If you have your hair colored it is important to choose a shampoo that is for colored hair. A lot of shampoo’s that are on the market today can make your hair color fade, and you do not want that on your freshly dyed hair color.

It is important if you have oily hair to not use shampoo that has conditioner as well. The conditioner will make your hair more oily then it was to begin with, and it will just cause you more hassle of trying to get rid of your oily hair. Make sure you know your hair type before going to buy your shampoo. You may have to go through a few different shampoos before finding the perfect one for your hair type. Just make sure that you follow the instructions on the back of the shampoo so you will get the best result on your

Makeup For Large Pores – How To Hide Large Pores?

Makeup For Large Pores – How To Hide Large Pores?

Makeup For Large Pores How To Hide Large Pores? makeup for enlarged pores make upEnlarged pores are a concern of many women of all ages and skin types, especially for those with oily and combination skin. The best way to prevent enlarged and clogged pores is to fallow a strict skin care regimen that includes: cleansing, toning, moisturizing, nourishing.
Unfortunately there is no way to make large pores invisible and to shrink them for ever but there are some products that help minimize the appearance of enlarged pores and with a few makeup tricks you can conceal them and make large pores seem smaller.

Follow these simple steps when applying makeup to hide large pores and to achieve a flawless look:

Step 1. Cleanse and tone your face
Always cleanse and tone your face before you apply makeup. Use a gentle cleanser to remove all the impurities and excess oil. Tone your skin with a toner that is appropriate for your skin type – use it lavishly, especially if your skin is oily. Apply it with a cotton pad and wipe until your face looks and feels perfectly clean.

Step 2.* Use an ice cube or cool water to “shrink“ enlarged pores
Run an ice cube all over your face – the cool water shrinks and refresh the skin while moisturizing it at the same time. If you don’t have an ice cube you can splash your face with cool water. Cool water and ice cube rubbed in the skin will temporarily reduce the size of the pores.

Step 3. Apply moisturizer
Apply moisturizer as usual but make sure you apply the correct amount of it. The moisturizer is essential when applying makeup, no matter what your skin type is. It acts as a protective barrier to help trap moisture in the ski, it plumbs and comforts your skin and make the foundation easier to blend.

Step 4*. Apply Oil-controlling product
Using an oil controlling product after the moisturizer is essential for those women with oily and combination skin. Such products for example are: Lancôme Pure Focus T-Zone Matifier – Powder Gel For Instant Shine Control ($26), Clinique Pore Minimizer T-Zone Shine Control ($13.50).
These products give the skin a long-lasting matte finish, refine and tighten pores. Oil controlling products should be applied only to the problem areas / usually the T-zone forehead, nose and chin/. They reduce shine, absorb the excess sebum and reduce the look of pores.

Step 5*. Apply pore minimizing product
Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector ($16.50) is one of my favorite makeup products. This product is something like a foundation and a concealer that instantly refines the look of enlarged pores and provides long-lasting matte and flawless finish. Apply it before the foundation only to problem areas or over the entire face if you don’t want to use a foundation. The best thing about the Instant Perfector is that it really conceals open pores without clogging them and resists sweat, excess oil and humidity.

Step 6. Apply makeup primer

Applying a makeup primer is a must for every woman with oily skin. The primers not only make your makeup stay put on for longer but also helps hide enlarged, open pores by providing a perfect base for the makeup application. They create a smooth and perfect surface and prepare the skin for the foundation and the powder. A primer works especially well for people with oily and combination skin as they control excess shine, absorb oil and fill in enlarged pores, creating an even surface. Apply the makeup primer after the moisturizer and before the foundation.

Step 7. Apply foundation
Although many women use foundations to hide enlarged pores, others avoid using foundation to areas where pored are enlarged because it can magnify their look and call more attention to the pores. Yes it’s true that a foundation may magnify the look of the pores but only if it isn’t appropriate for your skin type. I have seen many women who are using powder foundations to conceal large pores and the result isn’t very pleasant because they don’t apply it properly. Many of these women think that a powder foundation should be applied as a powder but that is not true. A powder foundation is different than a powder, although they both look alike. Powder foundation should be applied on well moisturized face with a sponge, fingers or a foundation brush. A big mistake that most women make is that they reapply the foundation two/ three times a day without removing it. This way they create layers of powdery ingredients which “clog“ the pores and create an uneven surface. Too heavy foundations can settle into your open pores and make them appear larger.
A water-based, oil-free foundation works best for hiding enlarged pores because the subtle finish they impart reduces the appearance of pores. But remember – you should apply just a small amount of the foundation if you have enlarged pores, otherwise you can make them look even larger and more visible. Apply it with a makeup sponge or with your fingertips for more precise application.

Step 8. Apply loose powder
Using a powder is a good way to correct your makeup during the day and to create a matte finish. Many of my clients ask me whether a powder clogs pores and the answer is no, as long as you apply it properly and remove your makeup everyday. Another frequently asked question is which powder works best for hiding large pores – pressed powder or loose powder. In my opinion the loose powder is better choice for concealing large pores as it provides a good coverage and is usually translucent. The best thing about the loose powder is that it won’t make the shiny areas flaky, as it contains more oil-absorbing ingredients. How to apply it – dust it lightly on your skin with a large, powder brush. Apply the powder to the centre of the face and stroke your face gently to cover all areas evenly.

Apply the rest of your makeup as usual.

Protect your skin

Protect your skin
Don’t go out without wearing a sunscreen. During the summer the skin doesn’t dry as much as during the winter but yet you should moisturize it / even if your skin is oily/. Use a lotion or a gel in place of hydrating cream. This way you will avoid the unpleasing shine. Before going to bed, apply a regenerating night cream. It’ll protect your skin from the loss of moisture and the skin will look be more elastic and fresh in the morning. The eyes also need attention. Use a special eye cream in the morning and at night. In the morning – a product that treats the dark circles under the eyes, and in the evening – for nourishing the delicate skin.

Cleanse your face

Cleanse your face
No matter how little time you have in the morning or how tired you are in the evening don’t forget to cleanse your skin. The skin becomes very dirty and oily during the day, due to the environmental pollutants – smoke, dust, greasy makeup etc. There is a wide range of different cleansing products appropriate for different skin types. They not only remove the impurities and oils, embedded in your pores, but they also moisturize and nourish your skin, remove the dead skin cells and shrink the enlarged pores. Those who are always in a hurry prefer the 3-in-1 products which combine cleansing milk, tonic and cleanser. The wet cleansing wipes are also appropriate for every day use. Besides being comfortable and always being on hand, you can use them during the day – to remove the lipstick from the lips, or the greasy eyeshadows.

Masks

Masks

As we know there are many different types of masks, each with a specific purpose – they soothe the skin, oxygenate it, improve the circulation, nourish the skin, clear up the blemishes and even reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

  • tightening masks help tighten and tone sagging skin
  • drawing masks absorb the excess oils
  • moisturizing masks add moisturize to the skin

Exfoliating

Exfoliating

When you exfoliate you remove deed surface cells and oil that can cause pores to plug and lead to problems like acne for example. Exfoliating also stimulates circulation. The scrubs treat the surface of the skin, but unfortunately don’t do what a true exfoliator does, which is removing surface cells debris, leaving the skin in a heightened state of cleanliness. The natural fruit-based products are excellent peels. The most effective exfoliating peels are nonabrasive and gel-based. These gels help to keep the skin moisturized. The scrubs leave your skin feeling smoother and more refined without being irritated. The gel-based peels are excellent for acne, because they don’t add further irritation to skin that is already raw
