French Manicure Steps

If you dislike colouring your nails with bold colours, then French manicure is meant for you. It’s a style of polishing the nails wherein white paint is applied to the tips of the fingernails, and the rest of the nails are given a pink or light beige coating. Attempting to do a French manicure for yourself might seem like a daunting task, but getting one at a beauty salon costs more than the usual manicure. But don’t get intimidated as one can improve with steady practice. Follow these easy tips to get yourself a professional-looking French manicure:

  • Firstly, soak your hands in lukewarm water. Use a body scrub to exfoliate your hands by massaging them. Wash it off with water and dry the nails with a clean towel.
  • Cut and file your fingernails. Squarish shape is ideal for this type of manicure.
  • Give your nails a base coat of pink, light beige or any similar shade, and allow it to dry. This is good for strengthening the nails. If you wish to give another coat for your nails, do so.
  • To get a squarish look, carefully paint across the tips of your fingernails, using a white enamel. If you want a rounded look, carefully paint along the curved edges of your finger nails. Leave it to dry.
  • The final step is to give a transparent coat of nail enamel over the entire nail to seal off the white tips of the nails. This will your nails a glossy look.
