Watermelon Toner

Watermelon Toner

Toners bring in firmness to your face. It is the next logical step after a facial cleansing routine. Using a toner ensures complete removal of cleansing preparations from the skin. Toners are used to freshen up and tone the skin and prepare a clean surface ready for make-up. Watermelon toners are an important part of homemade beauty tips.

Toners are meant to restore the acid or alkali balance of the skin, penetrate pores, refresh and cool the skin while cleaning the excess oil, impurities and dead skin cells that remained even after cleansing. They are used to restore your skin’s natural pH balance. Identify your skin type before you apply a toner.

Applying Watermelon Toner

For a watermelon toner you need:
  • 1 cup watermelon chunks
  • 2 tbsp witch hazel
  • 2 tbsp distilled water

Now what you need to do is puree the watermelon chunks in a processor or blender. Strain the liquid and throw away the solids. Pour the strained liquid on the remaining ingredients and mix well. Preserve it in a glass bottle. Watermelon has astringent properties, sugar and vitamins A and B. The high water content makes it a great skin refresher.

Note: Remember toning cannot replace facial cleansing. It is meant to assist the cleansing process. Use cotton wool when applying watermelon toner. The cotton wool has to come off clean. If it doesn’t then that means the cleansing process has not been perfect.
