Hot Oil Hair Treatment

Hot Oil Hair Treatment

With the rising levels of pollution our hair needs a lot of care Hair that has a natural shine and healthy bounce is what all us want. And it's not all that difficult to get healthy hair. However, it is essential to eat a healthy balance diet, drink lots of water and exercise regularly. A healthy body is the first step to healthy hair.

Once we have fixed a fitness schedule for ourselves, we can concentrate on hair care. Just as our skin and nails need care—our hair needs a lot of care, too. A hot oil treatment is essential for our hair—at least, once every 15 days. Ideally, our hair deserves a natural hot oil hair treatment once every 7 days.

Hot Oil Treatment

Things you will need for a natural hot oil treatment

Oil* to apply to your scalp

Cotton Wool
Shower Cap (made of porous material)
Bath Towel
Mild Shampoo
Honey-1 tbsp

You can use olive oil, coconut oil, a mix of almond oil and castor oil, or any other oil that you prefer. Please note that if you are allergic to any of the ingredients, mentioned here, please do not use them.

How to do a hot oil treatment at home:

  • A hot oil treatment is also known as hot oil massage treatment. To put it very simply all you need to do is warm the oil, use a cotton wool to apply the oil to the roots of your hair.
  • Use your finger tips to gently massage the oil into your scalp.
  • Wear a shower cap (made of porous material).
  • Take a bath towel soaked in warm water. Squeeze out the excess water. (You would not like hot water to run down your face and neck!)
  • Wrap this towel (like a turban) around your head. Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes. The heat of the steam (from the towel) will help the oil get absorbed into your scalp.
  • Wash you hair with a mild shampoo. Make sure that no shampoo remains in your hair and your hair is squeaky clean.
  • Take a liter of water. Add the honey. Mix well. Apply this to your hair as the conditioner.
  • Do not wash your hair after applying the honey conditioner. Use a soft towel to dry your hair. Do not use a hair dryer. Comb your hair using a wide-toothed comb.
This process is also named as turban therapy. A number of different combinations of hair oils can be prepared at home. Some of the popular and effective combinations are:
