Homemade Bath Oil Recipes

There are many different ways of preparing a bath oil. A bath oil mainly consists of a base or carrier oil which is often blended with one or more or herbs or flowers. Here are a few simple recipes for bath oil:

Recipe #1

Ingredients
  • Olive oil
  • Glycerin
  • Ginger essential oil
  • Grapefruit essential oil
  • Coconut essential oil
Directions: Take one-eighth of in a bowl and mix 2 tablespoon of glycerin into it. Then add 15 drops of , 10 drops of grapefruit essential oil and 10 drops of coconut essential oil into this mixture and stir thoroughly so that all the ingredients blend well with each other. Now, the bath oil is ready and you can store it in a small gas jar. Use one tablespoon of this bath oil in your bath water everyday.

Ingredients
  • A mixture of herbs that consists of chamomile, comfrey, mint, black tea, etc.
  • Sweet almond oil
  • Alcohol preferably vodka
Directions: Each of the herbs to be used in this bath oil have some benefits. Like, chamomile and mint have a calming effect on your senses and help you to relax. On the other hand, comfrey helps to freshen up and uplift mood and black tea has an amazing effect on skin irritations. You can either use fresh herbs or dried herbs. If you are using dried herbs you need 4 cups of these herbs and if it is fresh then 2 or 3 cups of herbs is enough. Put the herbs in a large cooking pot and pour over it in such a way that the herbs are properly covered with the oil. Then place the pot over the stove and simmer it for an hour. Then strain out the herbs with the help of a cheesecloth. In a blender, put 4 parts of this oil infusion and one part of alcohol and blend them for 10-15 seconds. Put it in a tight capped bottle and store it in a dry and dark place.

Ingredients
  • Petals of lavender flower
  • Olive oil or sweet almond oil
Directions:Here, the sweet almond oil or olive oil act as a base oil or carrier oil. Take a handful of fresh or dried petals of lavender in a glass jar. Heat the carrier oil and pour it into the jar. The quantity of the oil should be enough that can submerge lavender petals properly. Close the lid of the jar and place it under the sun for three consecutive days. The heat received from the sun will help release of fresh scent of lavender. After 3-4 days, strain out the petals in order to obtain lavender bath oil. Another lavender bath oil recipe involves mixing 15-20 drops of to two tablespoon of any carrier oil like olive oil. Put the mixture into a jar and stir it vigorously so that they blend well. Thus the bath oil is ready almost instantly. Use one teaspoon of this bath oil into bath water.

Ingredients
  • Olive oil
  • Rose essential oil
  • Frankincense essential oil
  • Cedarwood essential oil
Directions:Here the olive oil act as carrier oil to which 6 drops of cedarwood oil, 7 drops of and 4 drops of are added. Blend them well and add a few drops of it in bath water. The advantage of this aromatherapy bath oil recipe is that it is not just have a soothing effect on your skin but also helps to relax your mind and body as well. To yield more benefits from this aromatherapy oils, you can also massage this bath oil into the skin after bathing.

Ingredients
  • Olive oil
  • Almond oil
  • Canola oil
  • Wheat germ oil
  • Sesame oil
Directions: Take a jar fitted with a well-fitted lid. Pour 6 tablespoons of almond oil, 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 2 tablespoons of sesame oil, one tablespoon of wheat germ oil and 2 tablespoons of canola oil into the jar. Close the lid of the jar and stir it well. Thus a well-balanced bath oil is prepared which is neither too heavy nor too light. The best part is that it is suitable for all types of skin.

As you can see, each bath oil recipe discussed in this article are not very difficult to make. Add the prepared oil into the bath water, let it get distributed uniformly into the water and then get into the tub. Do not put the oil when the water is running as the essence of the oil may get evaporated.
