80s Makeup

80s Makeup

The 80s were a time of rock and roll, long (and big) hair, leather jackets, bright colored clothes, and brightly colored, dramatic makeup. And although we may be in the year 2011, the 80s makeup is coming back.
Everywhere you look, either in Hollywood or on the fashion runway, people are showing of the 80s style makeup and trends. 80s makeup is very trendy, very chic. It is almost like you are letting out your inner wild child and letting her shine. So let’s bring it back!

One thing to remember is the brighter and more colorful the better. 80s makeup is one of the most distinct trends that never fail to amaze us, and it is one trend that keeps recycling itself. In what other time frame can the eye shadow colors of bright green, orange, purple and blue come together cohesively? What about that heavy blush and bright lips (which are absolutely classic for 80s makeup).

How do you achieve the 80s makeup look?

- Start off your 80s makeup look by applying liquid foundation to smooth out your complexion. Completely cover your face. (you can use a concealer to hide blemishes or other dark spots if needed beforehand)

- For your eyes, you want to put very thick black eyeliner (or really ANY color). You want dramatic you want it THICK. Cover the top and the bottom! This is 80s makeup, more is better!

- Put lots of mascara on your eyelashes, make them long, make them thick, curl them if you have an eyelash curler or use the eyelash curling mascara.

- When you have taken care of that gather up several different colors of eye shadows. When we say get green and purple, we are not talking about the subtle earth tone colors. You want BRIGHT and VIBRANT for the 80’s makeup look! You want the neon green, the bright purple, nuclear orange, any of those colors. And you want to alternate putting these colors on your eyes. Applying to the lid, the crevice and the brow bone…don’t forget to extend out

- (for 80s makeup they would sometimes used the edge of a piece of paper or ruler to get a straight line from the corner of their eye to the hair line and sometimes using a blush brush to give a jagged, fiery look)

- Put some BRIGHT and heavy blush on your cheekbones

- And finish your 80s makeup off with a bright red or pink colored lipstick.

Need someone to model after? Look at Cyndi Lauper or Madonna they are excellent examples of the 80s makeup look of this era.

Regardless of the trends 80s makeup has always been the most recognizable and the most constant to re-surface again and again.
