Why Young Women Are Becoming More Vulnerable To Grey Hair

Why Young Women Are Becoming More Vulnerable To Grey Hair

Premature greying can equate a menace and embarrassing situation, especially when you are young. Usually white strands peep out when you least want to see them- at a party, at a meeting or at a cozy dinner with that special someone. You may blame it on the kind of lifestyle you lead, while elders at home might blame it on the excessive use of chemicals and the inadequate use of oil on your hair. The damage cannot be undone. But there are sure ways to prevent it. Our experts tell you really very good techniques:

Why Do I Have Grey Hair? : Climatic changes, hereditary factor or stress and tension could be some of the reasons for premature graying of hair. Graying of hair can be influenced by a variety of factors like nutritional intake, hereditary conditions and the lifestyle we lead. Premature graying also happens when functional melanocytes, which give color to the hair and skin, are absent. Oily, dry and wiry hair may be more prone to premature graying.

Do You Wash Your Hair Daily?: We often feel like, “My hair is looking very oily, I’ll have to wash it now” Wait! Are you washing your hair everyday? Frequent use of products, which contains excessive chemicals, could make your hair prone to graying. So buy a mild conditioner and shampoo to keep the grays from taking over.

Don’t experiment with your hair now and then: Do you consider the salon your second home because you think it’s cool to experiment with your hair, coloring it, straightening it, blow drying it! Stay away from these chemical hair treatments as much as you can- because they might lead to grey strands sticking out!

Avoid Stress: Do you always feel a bit insecure about your relationships? Worried about your job? You always have pressures at home or at work. Well, if you have so many worries running through your hair at 100kmph, then one fine morning, you might suddenly find the patch of white hair, making you look like one of those characters straight out of television soap. Dr. Shah says, “Even a hard knock to the scalp may cause a few strands of de-pigmented hair to grow.”

Diet fight: Dr. Shah says, “Imbalances within our body might show themselves in premature graying, so you have got to take care of what you eat as that may affect the color of your hair.” He explains, “Disorders of the thyroid gland, particularly hyper-thyroids are associated with premature graying.” This is connected to vitamin B12 anemia and copper deficiency anemia.

What To Do? : “Premature graying falls into the prevented category rather than the curative category,” says Dr. Apoorva. However, in an extreme case, it is advisable to consult a trichologist. And you do not have even a single strand of white, then rejoice and ensure that you live a stress and tension-free life and care for your hair by applying oil twice a week.
