How to Remove Dark Brown Spots on Face

How to Remove Dark Brown Spots on Face

Before focusing on the removal of dark brown spots on the face, you should have some idea where the brown spots come from originally. Dark Brown spots, also known as age spots and sun spots, are caused by a number of factors. Things that cause the dark brown spots include, but is not limited to, excess sun exposure, aging, hormones, improper skin care, diet, stress, birth control pills, and previous acne. In realizing these causes, it is best to become aware of how to reduce future dark brown spots. This would include the proper use of sunscreen, the proper use of skin care, and eating a balanced diet for a healthy, glowing skin.

To remove the dark brown spots, you have several options. Laser therapy is one of the easiest and most effective ways of removal. The laser creates a light beam that creates heat, breaking down unwanted cells and removing them. Often times, this procedure is very comfortable and one treatment is effective in removing a spot. Chemical peels are also quite effective in removing the unwanted layers of pigmentation caused in brown spots. More than one treatment may be necessary though.

Ways to remove the dark brown spots in your own home include several over the counter and prescription products. These products tend to have some form of antioxidants, hydroxy acids, green tea, and/or Retin A. Some companies have products specifically labeled to lighten dark spots. These products are best used on the particular area and not the surrounding skin area. Otherwise, the surrounding skin area will also lighten defeating the purpose of your purchase. Other products that can help in gradually removing the product would be microdermabrasion, either at home or professionally.

Microdermabrasion is often a two step process. After thoroughly cleaning your face, the first step will exfoliate a layer of skin from your face. This first step typically has a sandy texture and causes reddening of the skin. The reddening of the skin is caused by the removal of the layer of skin. New skin is exposed and this is how with each treatment, you will see a diminishing effect on your brown spots. After the new skin layer is exposed, most microdermabrasion sets will come with a second product. This product is typically a replenishing serum of some kind. The serum is meant to replenish the newly exposed skin cells and seal in moisture.

Depending on the financial expense you want to have in removing your dark brown spots, you have many options. Laser therapy is one of the most expensive, yet the quickest solution. At home microdermabrasion and over the counter products are the least expensive, yet, still effective in removing the spots.
