Preliminary step is to purchase a pedicure kit. These kit consists all the basic tools like nail trimmers, cuticle oil, orangewood stick, nail colour and cuticle nipper.

Tips

  • Firstly, soak the cotton band with acetone remover and remove the old nail polish.
  • To cut your toenails always use high quality clippers. Cut your nails straight across. The nails are then cut leaving about 1/8th of an inch so that the nails don’t extend over the tip of the fingers.
  • Don’t use metal files, use emory boards. File the nail in one direction around the corners for a soft square shape. For shortening and shaping nails use the coarse surface and for smoothing the nail edge use the smooth surface.
  • Take a big flat bottom bowl and fill it with warm water. In this warm water add bath salt, Epsom salt and aromatherapy oil. Now soak your feet in it for 3 minutes. If your feet are more calloused then it is necessary to soak them for a longer time. You can also add quarter cup of milk in warm water. Dead skin loosens due to lactic acid in the milk. Soak your feet in water until the skin softens up.
  • Rub cuticle remover on the base of each nail. Then wait for a minute. After that, slowly push the skin back with orangewood stick.
  • Don’t cut your toe flesh. To trim loose skin, use cuticle nippers.
  • To remove the dead skin of the balls and heels of your feet, use a foot scrub and foot file or wet pumice stone or an exfoliating body. Don’t scrub so hard that your feet turn red.
  • Dry your feet fully including between the toes. Apply nourishing foot cream and rub the feet with little cuticle oil.
  • To remove extra oils from the nails use an acetone remover. Apply three thin coats of nail paint. Do not paint cuticles. After applying three coat apply thin topcoat.
  • To remove excess nail polish use orangewood stick wrapped in cotton & dipped in nail polish remover.
  • You can also place cotton wool pads between your nails before applying a coat of clear base. Once the first coat becomes dry apply second coat of nail polish.
  • Always clean your pedicure tools with warm soapy water after each use. Also wipe them down with alcohol. It will reduce the risk of bacterial infections.
  • Before wearing shoes or doing any other work let it dry completely.
