Acne Treatment

Acne Treatment

Acne Scar Removal

Acne is an inflammatory skin disease, which affects the tiny pores that cover the face, arms, back and chest, and the oil glands attached to them. It is an extremely common condition, which will affect most teenagers and young adults to some extent. Acne is commonest in adolescence with a peak in the late teens. Acne may, however, appear for the first time in the midtwenties or even later and persists in a significant number of people into their forties or even their fifties. Acne can also leave scars.

The Moll Clinic has been involved in acne scar removal for several years, and has been successfully registered with the Healthcare Standards Agency. At The Moll Clinic acne laser treatment has been used with great success to treat acne skin problems. Laser treatment has proven to be an extremely safe and effective method of acne treatment for men and women, without the major side effects associated with other treatments.

The way in which the laser works is twofold: Firstly, the laser light kills the acne bacteria that cause the infection and which leads to the formation of spots. Secondly, the formation of large amounts of new collagen below and around the spots gives a huge boost to the healing process, causing the spots to disappear with a decreased likelihood of acne scars developing. The treatment is usually painless and potential side effects are minimal and very short lived. Certainly, in comparison to the use of Roaccutane and long term antibiotics, this is a treatment solution which is very well tolerated and far superior to any other acne treatment that we know of.
