This oil is steam distilled from the buds, and is native to Madagascar and now distilled worldwide. It has a pungent, spicy aroma. It is used in dental preparations, as a fragrance component in toothpastes, soaps, toiletries, cosmetics and perfumes, as a flavour ingredient in major food categories, alcoholic and soft drinks. It is anaesthetic, antiseptic, anti-spasmodic, stimulant, analgesic, antibacterial and carminative. |
