A day spa is a business establishment which people visit for professionally administered personal care treatments such as massages and facials. It is similar to a beauty salon in that it is only visited for the duration of the treatment. Day spas sited in airport terminals are often called airport spas, which also offer services for hair and nails. In contrast, a destination spa offers the same services in a hotel setting where people reside for a day or more.

Medical spa

A medical spa, medispa or med-spa are terms that describes any medical office that operates under the supervision of a licensed health care professional, such as a medical doctor (MD) and offers non-surgical elective cosmetic medical treatments. A medical spa is a hybrid between a medical clinic (doctor’s office) and a day spa that operates under the supervision of medical doctor. Medical spas may offer additional treatments that can only be administered by licensed medical professionals, such as MD's or RN's. (USA usage) Treatments offered depend upon the scope of practice of the licensed practitioner and may include:

• Laser Treatments & IPL (Intensed Pulsed Light) such as, skin tightening, laser hair removal, laser vein treatments, treatment of pigmented lesions and/or moles, treatment of sum damage, etc.
