Up, Up and Away...
A lot of salons seem to think that having a French name is classy, or even Klassy. Among them are, La Coiffure Salon, Le Nail Salon, Hair Nouveau, La Petite Salon, Le Mys Nails, and Hair Sebon.
The Harlow Jantee salon has a "Manicureste". If law firms did this they might come up with Le Trois Advoctes, or Le Ballet du Justice.
In one city you can choose between Hair Images, Hair Reflections, Hair Accents , Hair Attitudes, The Hair Shack or Foxxy's, perhaps depending upon the demeanor you are trying to project.
Some salons seem inspired by popular entertainment. For Your Nails Only sounds like a clandestine adventure. There's also The Last Tangle, but it's not in Paris, it's in Chico.
More than one shop has called itself Hollywood Nails (not in Hollywood, by the way) , Then there's the more Shakespearean, As You Like It Hair Studio.
A few hint at vanity on a higher plane like Angel Nails or Heaven On Earth. A New Creation Hair & Nails hints at rebirth while, Alpha & Omega Hairstyling Salon covers the subject completely.
You can get Heavenly Nails & Hair in a town which also has a shop for extreme nail emergencies, 911 Nails. Then there's Hair We Are, and if you're not sure where that is, this one is in Cotati, CA .
First Lady Nails.. seems like they have limited their clientele as much as Holiday Nails has limited it's seasons. Hair Cut 2000 may have changed their name by now or else their calendar is a little slow.
As you can see, puns, alliteration, questionable rhyme and pure silliness are used with reckless abandon by many salons.
Prime Cuts, Upper Cuts, Just Cut Loose, The Final Cut, and A Cut Above attract attention along with Hair Apparent, Hair and Beyond, Hair Raisers, Hair To Please You, and Hair To Stay are apparently here to stay.
The Best Little Hairhouse in (whatever state) might make you do a double take. There's even a Hairhouse Warehouse for beauty supplies.
Hair Today, Bangs For The Memories, Mane Event, All Tressed up, Hair to Please. The Bobshed, Scissorhands, Headmistresses, Tre'ss Bien (another French corruption) Cut and Caboodle, all of these compete for silliness with Headquarters, Heads Up, Just Teasin, The Pomp Room, Clippety-Do-Dah, Comb as You Are and All Tressed Up,
Hairborn, Hairport, American Hair Lines and American Hair Force,-- all sound aeronautic, perhaps they are located at airline terminals.
Speaking of terminal, there's To Dye For, Dye Hard, Hair to Eternity and Permanent Solutions. My favorite along those lines is Curl up and Dye.The one I happened to see with that evocative name, was located near a retirement community -- and yes, the residents were using their services.
